Our 1KW 4:1 Guanella Current balun is a low loss broadband balun giving excellent choking impedance of common mode currents whilst providing a transition from a balanced input from your antenna to un-balanced output to your tuner or transceiver.

The 4:1 balun will transform an antenna or feed line impedance of 200ohms to 50ohms and is ideally suited as an upgrade to the smaller 4:1 Baluns found in most antenna tuners.  Or as an upgrade to single core 4:1 Baluns of the Ruthroff design.

You can locate the Balun at the bottom of your ladder line when using antennas like a Zepp or Doublet.  Then a run of coax to your shack. Or at the end of ladder line entering your shack with a short lead to your Transceiver or ATU.

This balun can be also used for Off Centre Feed Dipoles, however due to its weight (530 grams or 1lb) and bulk we do not recommend this Balun unless you can support the centre of the antenna.  However, we will build one with additional hardware to mount the transformer as a OCF Dipole on request.

We offer the 4:1 balun in two configurations either with 2x Fair-Rite Mix 52 (K Core) or 2 x Fair-Rite Mix 61 Cores. Select Fair-Rite mix 240-52 core for 160m to 10m. Select Fair-Rite mix 240-61 core for 40m to 6m.

We manufacture the Balun in the UK, using our custom designed PCB. The build also includes.

Silver plated PTFE covered wire used in its construction

The power rating for this Balun is 1kw SSB. They are in daily use at 600w on the Mid Sussex 80m and 15m Nets if you would like to hear them in use.

We have included a SWR, R & X Sweep taken by G3WYN (Balun picture at QTH) using an MFJ Antenna Analyser within the product images.
 
In addition, there are sweeps from a RigExpert AA230 showing the SWR curve using a 200ohm test load with a RXZ sweep.  The sweeps are 1mhz to 32mhz with the Fair-Rite 240-52 cores and show exceptional low SWR and low Reactance values.
 
Note
Please let us know if you would like the wing nuts to be on the size of the case with an additional eyelet, just in case you would like to use the balun on an OCF Dipole.  If you do, add three days to the delivery date.
